23 Sunday - A
“Thus says the Lord:
If I tell the wicked, “O wicked one, you shall surely die,”
and you do not speak out to dissuade the wicked from his way,
the wicked shall die for his guilt,
but I will hold you responsible for his death.” (Ez 33:7)
“My brothers, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back,
he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.” (James 5:19-20)
“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.
If he listens to you, you have won over your brother.” (Mt 18:15)
The Bible is telling us clearly about the necessity of fraternal correction. But we hate even the idea that somebody can try to correct us. I am immediately very deeply upset even if somebody tries to help me and protect me against fall and sin. I am UPSET!!! Because:
- I am not a sinner,
- I am perfect,
- I don’t need any correction or
because as I condemn others, I am afraid that everybody who tries to correct me condemns me as well?
